VABO - our history

Gaston Vanoppen establishes a wholesale business in lighting. Over the years we specialised in batteries, lighting and torches.

VABO begins with its own assembly of rechargeable batteries. With a double-headed welder, we can produce 95 % of all batterypacks in our own warehouse. 1990 is also the beginning of VABONEWS. This magazine informs our customers and prospects. In 2000 the magazine appears four times a year in two different languages and is sent to more than 5000 people.

Thanks to our high specialisation we are recognised as DURACELL INDUSTRIAL DEALER in 1995. Thanks to this recognition we are able to offer the PROCELL-series. This industrial series of DURACELL offers quite some advantages.

We move to our new building in Heusden-Zolder with 450 m2 of storage space. This year we also start distributing MAGLITE-torches. Moreover, VARTA begins with a system of ‘Authorized dealerships’ and VABO is immediately recognised at the highest level: ‘Authorized VARTA battery consultant’.

The name VABO is a registered trademark. With our own trademark we also start our own product range, which will also be sold abroad. We begin with a full range of closed lead-acid batteries.

Our own product range is extended with batteries for hearing aids and industrial rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries. montage.jpg (2883 bytes)

We enlarge our warehouse with 500 m² extra room, 2 gates and dock-leveller.

We received the VdS-approval for our Sealed Lead Acid Batteries. This approval is granted by the german 'Verein der Schadeversicherung' - an organisation of insurancecompanies and stands for high quality batteries.

At present our batteries are sold in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.. Every day we try to keep our clients satisfied.
